Magazine Altogether

Magazine Cover

For my Magazine Cover, I took a picture of AJ (Owner of UNPHASED) as the cover from the bottom of the stairs to show how he is at the bottom of his career and is slowly making his way to the top. Additionally, I used VICE as a base for my magazine since i'm a fan of their magazine and the way they format it. They have a simple cover with just their normal title with bizarre cover pictures like my cover showing a random teenager with purple camouflage pants, who could this be? Moreover, there is a direct mode of address at the bottom left to let the reader know what the main cover issue will be about. This was done to address to the younger audience that enjoys knowing whats to come but only having a sneak peak.
Furthermore, I also changed the saturation on the trees to put emphasis on the green of the trees and also hue of the sky to emphasize the beautiful day outside that day, it also helped contrast the green of the trees with the dark brown of the trees and light blue sky.
As for the title of the cover I went into Photoshop and created a new blank project and created my own standalone title to implement into my inDesign cover creation. I started out by using the Century Gothic font for the title and created a shadow with the filters in the text and added two sad faces, combining a sad face with the O in the process. As for the direct mode of address I simply used the same font but put it in white text and put the text in bold.

Table of Contents
For my table of contents I put a picture of Berler which is a Miami Rapper that I interviewed for this magazine. He produces 808 beats and is an up and coming sound cloud rapper with potential. I had to use inDesign to create the table of contents and this greatly helped me organize the table of contents by using the ruler tool and organizing all my text in the table of contents. The text in the table of contents is specific too, I used Gothic bold on the table of contents text to continue the edgy feel of the magazine theme and normal Times New Roman on the volume text for the formality of the title to keep the reader understanding they are still reading a professional magazine.
As for my other table of content article titles, they are side projects that are in the making that I want to write on for this issue of AGE OF DECADENCE.
I used VICE'S table of content as inspiration for mine since they put weird table of content picture of normal text to juxtapose each other since the article is about something crazy and weird or usually not talked about but is in normal bland text, but for my text I decided to make it fit with my overall theme of my magazine.

Magazine Feature Spread

This is my first magazine spread for the article based on AJ's brand UNPHASED, the cover issue of the magazine. I helped build interaction with the reader in the magazine by including the companies social media, price of one of their articles of clothing, and interview with the owner of the company.
I think this article will greatly attract readers that are interested in AJ's views and goals that he has with his brand and people interested in some really cool clothes with awesome creative designs. For the overall text of the spread I decided to use Century Gothic for the title of both pages while for the article itself I used Times New Roman for the professional feel of the magazine. Some may argue it's very mundane and boring but I think that I want the text to feel mundane and boring because the story behind the text is the true excitement of the magazine and the true readers will understand the juxtaposition.
