House Style Project Analysis

House style project

After viewing ten different presentations analyzing ten different magazine covers and their house style, I learned a handful of things regarding both what I will need to do when I am making my magazine and what I will need to keep in mind when creating my presentations. I've picked up on a couple things. Fonts in particular have a greater impact than you may think. For example, a more professional font like Garamond is more for businesses and another example is when a magazine puts their title behind or in front of the main topic to emphasize it, take Rolling Stones for instance. They put their header in front or in back of the front celebrity depending on how famous they are. Also the pictures have a great impact too; Sports illustrated puts the athletes as the focus of the magazine and blurs the background to emphasize the focus of the magazine, also their font is masculine and the colors identify a manly audience. Diction plays a big role in your cover as well. Diction will entice readers and certain diction can help you understand what audience the magazine is for. Intense business diction will cater to people who are knowledgeable in that scene. Presentation has just as big as an impact. When presenting everything needs to go well, some groups I saw had messed up audio and had too many words on their presentations. Presentations shouldn't have that much text because the whole point is to verbally present, and if you have too much text on your slides audiences will start reading the text on the slide instead of listening to the presenter.
